  1. Hello Britteny, I like you purpose about community activism. That strikes deep with me, as I believe there is a serious void in that department in communities all over the country. Without establishing an "it's okay to be proactive" attitude in our communities, especially the more urban ones, we will be stuck in the cycle of apathy. By the way, I enjoy your positive message and the "blue skies" blog name that also fits with you picture of the blue sky and the rainbow. Super awesome.

  2. Hello Ken,
Thank you and I'm thrilled you are the first to post on my blog. Your absolutely right about being "proactive". Being proactive leads to preventative care. In most cases this would be in relation to medical health care. But isn't the health and state of wellness of our communities currently at risk? Shouldn't there be plan to prevail before there is a solution for a problem? I'm hoping as educators we will lead the change and inspire children to become change agents.

  4. Hello Brittney! Wow vision has really blossomed into something profound. I am so glad to be a part of this project and I am really enjoying the topics you have posted so far. I will be commenting on standardized testing, since I feel it doesn't truly represent individual knowledge accurately especially in California which is a Majority Minority state. How can we expect those students to all perform at a same standard rate when research shows that learning capacity is completely specific to individuals. I think there should be a balance, there is no one right way to answer the question; however, ABA psychology would support individualized testing rather that "standardized testing" as a more accurate depiction of one's intellectual capacity or knowledge base.
